Larry CLARK - Detailed biography

Born in 1943 in Tulsa (United States), Larry Clark follows photography's studies and quickly become a major photographer. He works in his home town on stages of life of a group of youngs persons. The images in black and white of Clark capture the sexuality, drugs consomation and violence.

In 1971, Larry Clark published his first monograph entitled Tulsa and The Perfect Chilhood in 1993. In 1995 he decided to realize his first movie, Kids. The movie will be shown in the Cannes film festivals and of Sudance. He redraws the setbacks of young New Yorkers which fall in the drug. 

Five years later, he mades out his second realization, Another Day in Paradise, inspired by real facts. Always in the same register, He mades out in 2001 his movie Bully, where a group of teenagers who kills one of their friends and then Ken Park in 2003, that he realize with Edward Lachman. Next year, Larry Clark puts in stage Latin-American teenagers of a disadvantaged district and approaches their skateboard's culture on Wassup Rockers. 

Firstly figurative, Larry Clark's painting gradually passed near the abstraction. The strength, the wandering, the violence, the death, the story and the fiction are mixed, as in his movies and his photos. Larry Clark talk about his paintings as a free space, away from the world. Painting was always for him a major source of inspiration.
